FIT-ISH // semi, kinda, sorta; someone who likes the idea of being fit but also likes food.

Where are all my FIT-ISH babes at? ‍

As much as I want to be “fit” it’s just so hard. I’m sure all you fitness gurus are laughing because, yes I do know anything that you want to see results in, takes work.

But dang, this is hard!

There is SO much more than “just working out.” You have to buy workout clothes (because who wants to rock old high school t-shirts at the gym, if you’re going to sacrifice everything… you need to look cute), you have to either buy a gym membership or supplies for at home gym workouts, you have to buy food (OMG its so expensive to buy all the healthy food) and that’s really just the surface of it.

Here is a small glimpse into my VERY BEGINNING STAGES of getting “fit” …

I woke up yesterday with a voicemail from my personal trainer which said “Hello, my young padawan. Just wanted to make sure you still have my number.” Because it’s been TWO weeks since we’ve met and dang my body is feeling it (that food baby is on 10). Also, padawan… well I’m not sure why, but I laughed about it. I called him back and scheduled my workouts for next week, talked about my meal prepping (which you will see Monday, through my insta: @kaileimontgomery) and went along with my day. Later on I was at the drive thru getting lunch for a work meeting and while ordering my food… my trainer CALLS me. I instantly ignored that call and went on. I then quickly felt guilty and called him back and told on myself (I am the WORST liar) and although I was getting a grilled chicken wrap, I still felt guilty.

Anyone with me? I feel guilty because I forget to work out. I feel guilty because I get busy. I feel guilty because my clothes don’t fit. I feel guilty because I don’t care enough. But at the end of the day I know that I have a goal for myself and I will get there and it’s going to take time.

The hardest part for me is that the results don’t happen immediately. I think if they did I would totally stay with it. But that’s with anything in life! Most results don’t happen immediately so push through, because you aren’t alone. Anything worth working towards is worth waiting for. My motivation isn’t my husband, or my friends or even my trainer. My motivation is myself! I want this for myself so I can feel better throughout the day. I want this for myself because I know one day I will be a mother and it’s important to be healthy during that process. I want it for myself because I want to look in the mirror six months from now and see a women who put everything she had into something and grew physically, mentally and emotionally.

The only difference between your body this week and your body next week is what you decide to do during those seven days to achieve your goals. Here are some helpful tips that encouraged me to get started and to stay focused on the goal:

This is a great pre workout, I do it almost everyday before getting my workout started! (It’s great for at home or at the gym)

My biggest advice so far with food prep is still eat some of your favorite meals but definitely substitute lower calorie, and lower fat options. Food tastes great when it is natural and healthy. I promise that your same favorite meals can taste just as good or even better, by changing a couple of the ingredients. This week, I made chicken enchiladas I replaced flour tortillas with wheat ones and for the sauce, you can use greek yogurt instead of sour cream! I tried to do the whole grilled chicken and brown rice everyday thing, but dang I CAN NOT DO IT. I have to have flavor and different foods each day. If you are first starting and you live a chaotic life like most people, just pick one day of the week and cook all of your meals! This works really well since it is just my husband and me. But even for larger families you can split it up into two days and that way you aren’t so overwhelmed by just one day.

Don’t miss out on things just because you’re being healthy. This weekend I enjoyed Pizza and Pepsi (I usually do not drink dark soda but when eating pizza you have to have do it lol) while celebrating a friends birthday. I have no problem watching Riverdale and eating some halo top. Because, it’s important you don’t stop life. You modify it, and eventually if you stick with it you make it a lifestyle. Going to the gym and meal prepping stop being a hassle and start become apart of your everyday life.

  • My favorite work out day: LEGS

  • My least favorite: Anything with Cardio

  • My Instagram fitness obsession: @fitwithasd (GUYS, she is amazing)

So enjoy some Enlightened Ice Cream (@eatenlightened), stay off of the scale and have a great rest of your weekend!
